YPGCares’ Holiday Book Drive and Gift Wrapping Party
In the spirit of giving, YPG Cares is collaborating with the Women’s National Book Association (WNBA) and Family Promise of the Capital Region to host a fun book drive and book-wrapping party on Thursday, December 8th.
The Women’s National Book Association was established in 1917 and was founded on the idea that books have power, and those involved in their creation gain strength from joining forces. They continue their pioneering mission to empower through creative words by hosting numerous workshops, events and volunteer opportunities with chapters across the United States. Family Promise of the Capital Region provides a comprehensive response to Family Homelessness. Volunteers and staff work with existing social service agencies and faith communities to provide shelter, food and case management service to assist homeless families in securing employment, permanent housing and lasting independence.
As young publishing professionals, we all know the power of a good story and its ability to inspire—so head out on December 8th to the AAP offices with a book donation for the families serviced by the Family Promise of the Capital Region. To add festive flair to our donations, we’re providing wrapping paper (and snacks!) as we all get together to spread a little holiday cheer through specially gift-wrapped books. There will be wine, music, and a whole lot of yuletide cheer.
WHERE AND WHEN: American Association of Publishers, (71 5th Ave #2, New York, NY 10003) on Thursday, December 8th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
WHAT TO BRING: Please bring at least two books to donate. We are currently accepting all genres and reading levels, and are especially interested in children’s books and Spanish language books.
This event is open to YPG and WNBA members only. RSVP HERE and email Angeli Rafer at arafer@wwnorton.com with any questions!
