YPG Cares: Housing Works Open Air Street Fair

Every year Housing Works Bookstore puts on a festive, all-day shopping bazaar called the Open Air Street Fair. Books are sold along with other items like records, CDs, clothing, and accessories to benefit the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS. Housing Works has asked YPG to be a part of making the day possible! (Read about YPG’s previous participation in this awesome event here, here, and here.)If you’d like to spend a fun late-spring day helping out for a fantastic cause alongside fellow book lovers, all while listening to music put on by local bands and enjoying great snacks from the Housing Works Bookstore Cafe (and who wouldn’t, really??), please sign up below! When: Sunday, June 5th
Where: Housing Works Bookstore Cafe at 126 Crosby Street, New York, NY 10012
Shifts: You can choose from: 9:30am-1:30pm, 1:00pm-5:00pm
Volunteer responsibilities may include:
- Customer Service: Greeting attendees, answering questions, directing attendees to check out locations
- Re-stocking: Unloading boxes from the elevators, turning books spine-up in boxes, refilling tables according to genre, and consolidating boxes as books sell.
