Agent & (Aspiring) Author Mixer #ypgwriters
Are you an agent (or assistant at an agency) on the look-out for brilliant, new talent? Are you a writer hoping to make the elusive connection with an agent? Maybe you’re even someone new to publishing who wants to know more about how the traditional road to publication works? If so, this is the event for you! YPG is teaming up with New York City Writers Network for a speed dating-style, agent-writer mixer to connect aspiring authors with acquiring agents.
Here’s how it works: Agents remain seated at tables while writers (and other-attendees) make their rounds asking questions about how agents find their next great projects, what agents look for in a new author, how to make a manuscript stand out, and more. No elevator pitches are needed here—just networking and organic conversations to explore potential agent-writer compatibility, and an opportunity to learn more about how an unagented manuscript becomes a book. Once the speed-dating portion of the event is over, participants will have the opportunity to mingle and get to know one another during a mixer!
Throughout the event—true to speed-dating style—all participants will have the opportunity to indicate who they are interested in connecting with afterwards.
