YPG Cares’ Rogue World Book Night Giveaway (#ypgcares)
For the past three years, we at YPG have joined World Book Night‘s global effort to spread the joy of reading by giving away books with our fellow book lovers on the steps of the New York Public Library central branch near Bryant Park each April 23rd. Very sadly, the US’s official partnership with World Book Night ended last year–BUT, that doesn’t stop us from having our very own ROGUE World Book Night, flash mob style!
TO JOIN THE GIVE-AWAY: Start collecting books NOW so you have about 25 prepared to pitch and give-away to passersby, flash mob style, on Thursday, April 23. (It goes without saying to please not take anything from your company without permission to use it in a giveaway, so we recommend you start with your own personal bookshelf, but we trust your judgment!) You could start collecting 2 books/week or so from now on, for example.
WHEN & WHERE: Meet us on the front steps of the New York Public Library (5th Avenue and 42nd St.) on Thursday, April 23, at 6:00pm sharp with your books in tow. We will then start giving out books to passersby in and around Bryant Park, for no reason beyond the joy of sharing reading, person to person!
AFTERWARDS: There will be a happy hour celebration at 7:30pm after the give-away ends! Anyone who has given away books or anyone who just wants to join the party should come! It will be at Archive (12 E. 36th St., between Fifth and Madison) with happy hour drink specials including $6 Malbec wine, $6 Brooklyn Lager, $5 Founders IPA, and $4 Miller Lite.
