YPG Book-to-Film Club: The Phantom Tollbooth
“I read [The Phantom Tollbooth] first when I was 10. I still have the book report I wrote, which began ‘This is the best book ever.'” (Anna Quindlen, The New York Times)
Sound familiar? Then come join YPG as we go full-tilt book lover nostalgia and revisit this ingenious fantasy! We’ll be reading Norman Juster’s novel and watching the 1970 cartoon co-written by Chuck Jones and Sam Rosen. The story centers around Milo, a bored ten-year-old who comes home to find a large toy tollbooth sitting in his room. Joining forces with a watchdog named Tock, Milo drives through the tollbooth’s gates and begins a memorable journey.
The screening and discussion will take place on Thursday, October 23nd (NEW DATE) from 6:00-8:00pm at Penguin (375 Hudson Street, Room 5172). You must sign up to attend, so RSVP HERE. Pick up your copy of the book now and see you there!
