YPG Bay Area “Geeks Out” Over Comics
A big thank you the YPG Bay Area members who were able to join us for the Comics & “Geek” Culture in Publishing Panel at Mission Comics on Thursday, September 4th from 6:30-7:30pm, despite the huge fire in the area only a few hours earlier (luckily no books were harmed).
We couldn’t have asked for a more knowledgeable group of panelists, including Ron Richards of Image Comics, Chris Prince of Insight Editions, Jennifer Joseph of Manic D Press, and Jack Bauer of Berkeley Public Library. Thank you all for participating. We learned what it takes to make it as a comic book artist, author, editor, or publisher in this day and age, and how discover and promote your next project—by attending Comic-Cons and book shows, tuning in to current conversations, and creating relationships with the incredibly supportive comic community out there, online and off.
A HUGE thank you to Mission Comics & Art for hosting. We’re lucky to have such a great comic shop and resource here in San Francisco.
Don’t forget: it’s Banned Books Week next week (Sept. 21-27) and this year will emphasize comics and graphic novels. Read more about banned and challenged comics on CBLDF.org.
