Cincopa video hosting solution for your website. Another great product from Cincopa Send Files.

Teacher Character DesignDid your first job land you in adult publishing, but your dream was always to work in children’s books? Perhaps you planned to go into trade publishing, but you took a position at an academic journal instead? Or maybe you’re pitching media in publicity and enjoying it, but you secretly long to read manuscripts and work with authors on the editorial side? It can be hard to navigate the world of publishing when you’re worried about being pigeon-holed in a department, genre, or job that isn’t your ideal match, and moving around within the industry sometimes feels more difficult than going in a completely different direction. Well YPG is here for you—and we’re ready to talk about transitions!

Join us on Wednesday, July 16th from 6:30 to 8:00pm at the NYPL Jefferson Market Branch (425 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10011) to talk informally and candidly at the first YPG Town Hall about how to best approach a transition, with YPGers just like you who have successfully made a move. Participating YPG Planning Committee reps include:

  • Alex Arnold, Editorial Assistant, Katherine Tegen Books/HarperCollins Children’s Books (transitioned from adult to children’s)
  • Brigid Black, Associate Production Manager, Sterling Publishing (transitioned from large publishing house to smaller house)
  • Samantha Mandel, Editorial Assistant, Henry Holt Books for Young Readers (transitioned from academic to trade)
  • Stephanie Stein, Assistant Editor, HarperCollins Children’s Books (transitioned from marketing to editorial)
  • Ashley Woodfolk, Assistant Marketing Manager, Random House Children’s Book (transitioned from Adult Trade books to Children’s)

RSVP HERE to attend and to submit questions and discussion points!
