Dealmakers: A Series of Speed-Networking Events from the League of Assistant Editors
Speed networking for agents and editors who work on YA and kids’ books! Dealmakers is a fast-paced night of networking for young acquiring editors and young agents with clients: think 15+ lunches in an hour, minus the restaurant anxiety (“do I chew funny? I think I chew funny.”), plus a free drink. Bring a stack of business cards and be prepared to answer questions like “what is your dream acquisition” and “when we work together to publish a massive bestseller with strong backlist potential, what will that project look like?”
The next event will be Tuesday, April 22 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $15 and include a drink (beer, wine, or seltzer) and 10% off all books that night; 100% of proceeds go to Housing Works’ mission to fight homelessness and AIDS. Hosted by the League of Assistant Editors. Registration required, so we can make sure there’s someone for everyone to make a lunch date with. REGISTER HERE.
Open to all editors of books for young adults or kids who can accept submissions and all agents with things to submit to YA/children’s book editors. Please buy an “agent” or an “editor” ticket and let us know your age, where you work, and what you’re looking for with the ticket confirmation information. You will be seated according to those details. Please note: An event for editors of adult trade books will be coming next – any editors or agents specializing in books for grown-ups will be refunded and added to the waitlist for the next event.
