YPG March BBL: A Look Behind the Curtain: How a Book Becomes a Book
You work in publishing, but much do you really know about book design and production? Ever wondered how all those Word docs, estimate forms, and InDesign files transform into that lovely paper and ink creation we call a book? Come to our March BBL, A Look Behind the Curtain: How a Book Becomes a Book! Our panelists work with the tangible aspects of book publishing, from design to production to printing and binding. They will talk about how they work together to create a physical book, and outline the aspects and challenges of book manufacturing that you may never have thought of. This is a great BBL for those especially new to publishing!
Panelists include:
- Steve Bedney, NY Regional Sales Manager, Ecological Fibers, Inc.
- Joseph P. Illidge, Manufacturing Manager. Sterling Publishing
- Daniel Lagin, Senior Designer (Interiors), Penguin Random House
- Sara Wood, Senior Designer (Covers), HarperCollins
Moderated by YPG Planning Committee Members:
- Brigid Black, Associate Production Manager at Sterling Publishing
- Julie Munn, Pre-Media Associate at Penguin Random House
Join us Wednesday, March 26th from 12:30-1:30pm at Penguin (375 Hudson St). You must RSVP HERE to attend. See you there!
