Yarr Matey! Come Pirate Stories at Story Love #9

Cincopa video hosting solution for your website. Another great product from Cincopa Send Files.

Don your swashbuckles land lubbers and commandeer your motley selves over to The Drama Book Shop (250 W. 40th Street), on Tuesday, September 24th, from 7:00-8:30 pm for the ninth YPG Cares volunteer event to benefit Story Love. Aye, we’ve got a rendezvous with the Story Pirates to capture a booty of your priceless hand-written, positive editorial feedback for local NYC school kids’ short stories. Help write encouraging, three-to-four sentence story reviews to capture budding new authors’ interests so they don’t walk the plank into the Sea of Literary Ignorance. Sign up for 90-minutes of grub, (non-alcoholic) grog, giggles, guffaws, and really good pumpkin cheesecake. Dig for hidden tweetable one-line treasures in your kids’ stories and get a chance to win two FREE tickets to Story Pirate’s monthly adult-only After Dark Show (which is a beauty to go to even if you don’t win tickets).

(Note: The young, budding authors’ creative works are present for this event — not the children themselves. Also, if you need practice with your piracy, remember that International Talk Like a Pirate Day is September 19th.) This event is capped at 30. PLEASE RSVP HERE. Email Julia.Montgomery@Macmillan.com with questions.

Story Pirates is a nationally respected education and media organization founded in 2003 to celebrate the words and ideas of young people. Their mission is to provide loving and encouraging feedback on every story that is submitted and they need editorial-savvy YPG Cares volunteers like you to help.
