Story Pirates Offer Annual Benefit Discount Booty for YPG Cares
ALL YPG Cares members can get discount tickets to the exclusive annual Story Pirates Benefit Show on Friday, June 7th for only $25 (discounted from $100)! because we know how to spread the Story Love. During the most recent Story Love #8 event on May 7th at The Drama Bookstore (250 West 40th Street), a record-breaking 23 YPG Cares volunteers ate pizza, enjoyed gourmet Red Velvet cupcakes (made especially for event #8 by a YPG member’s household chef), and wrote encouraging reviews of kid’s stories on behalf of Story Pirates. Through a cacophony of practicing artists sounding from the Bookstore’s loft and basement, the YPG Cares volunteer team equaled the liveliness by sailing through a bounty of kids’ story reviews and picking a one-liner winner faster than an ocean squall could blow up a storm. Everyone took home a warm heart and a big smile, and the one-liner winner also scored two tickets to Story Pirate’s monthly adult After Dark Show. But wait; there’s more…
Story Pirate’s once-a-year annual benefit event is for everyone. The Benefit will showcase short plays and musicals based on original stories written by children and performed by comedy professionals. Proceeds go to the Story Pirates’ arts and literacy programs in low-income schools. Don’t miss out! Details:

Story Pirates is a nationally respected arts and creative writing organization founded in 2003 to celebrate the words and ideas of young people, to promote literacy as a vital part of early childhood education, and to preserve the spark of youthful creativity often lost in the transition to adulthood. The primary charter of organization’s volunteer professional and aspiring actors is to promote the joy of writing and theatre performance to school-age kids, but the once-a-month After Dark Show is for adults only.
