YPG and the Dating Business
On the cold, blustery evening of Thursday, February 21st, YPG members descended on Bowery haunt Slainte for a round of two-for-one drinks–and a chance to meet their literary soulmates. No, YPG hasn’t really entered the dating biz. Not unless you count Book Blind Dates, the theme of this latest happy hour.
Blind Date attendees brought along a range of favorite books cleverly disguised in everything from wrapping paper to manila envelopes. (The best-dressed date? A hardcover in a dapper papercraft tuxedo.) Some books were labeled with clues–“thriller,” “fairy tale,” “boarding school”–while others demanded a truly blind leap of faith. Not to worry: the night ended with more than a few happy couples, including the proud new owners of Nora Ephron’s I Remember Nothing, Jasper Fforde’s The Woman Who Died a Lot, and many, many more.
