YPG Cares Continues to Show Story Love

Cincopa video hosting solution for your website. Another great product from Cincopa Send Files.

In our fourth collaboration with the Story Pirates, on Wednesday, February 8, 30 YPG Cares volunteers from 18 AAP member houses and a handful of literary agencies showed their Story Love! From 7:00-8:30pm, YPG Cares held a volunteer event at the Drama Book Shop (250 W. 40th St., NYC) to hand-write positive editorial feedback on the short stories local schoolchildren have submitted to the Story Pirates during the year.

Always a treat for our junior editors and creative professionals, this latest session yielded stories about evil bananas, sad dragons, little girls trapped in the underwater wreckage of the Titanic, cops-and-robbers adventures on distant planets, an evil mastermind who shoots lasers out of his mouth, and a lonely piece of pasta abandoned on the New York City streets.

As an additional treat, our event overlapped with the filming of Rolo’s Vlog, a weekly video blog by the Story Pirates mascot, and the Story Pirates invited attending YPG members to stay for a private comedy puppet show by professional Story Pirates puppeteers and actors!

YPG Cares is a regular supporter of the Story Pirates’ Story Love initiative, which is a program that promotes the idea that every child has a story to tell. Their mission statement is to provide loving and encouraging feedback on every story that is submitted to them throughout the year, and our editorial-savvy YPG volunteers are always eager to help. Email Becca at bworthington@publishers.org with any questions or if you’re interested in joining our next Story Love event.
