YPG Kicks Off its Summer Nights Happy Hour Series
At the launch of the Young to Publishing Group’s Summer Nights, an ongoing series of literary-themed happy hours, over 50 YPG members convened at Pete’s Tavern on Tuesday, June 28, 2011. The members came to celebrate the life and times of O. Henry, who frequented Pete’s Tavern and wrote many of his most famous stories there. However, beyond toasting a historic bar with a wonderful literary history, the young professionals networked, making fast friends with members from over 18 AAP and non-AAP member publishing houses. While YPG members enjoyed the $5 drink specials at the bar, their conversation turned to everything from the differences between editing textbooks and regular fiction to a debate over who has the quirkiest pet cat, and it can be said with firm conviction that good times were had by all.
