YPG Celebrates Publishing/Pop Culture Crossover

Cincopa video hosting solution for your website. Another great product from Cincopa Send Files.

Part of YPG’s mission statement is to give young publishing professionals the chance to build a community outside of their own publishing house. What better platform for networking than a group viewing of reality television?

On Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 9:00pm, 17 YPG members from Penguin, Abrams and the Children’s Book Council gathered at the Black Horse Pub in Park Slope, Brooklyn, to watch a publishing-themed episode of the hit reality television show Celebrity Apprentice. The episode’s challenge to the celebrities: create a children’s book and perform the story in front of a group of children and parents. On hand to assist the teams was publisher Margery Culyer of Marshall Cavendish Children’s Books. Although the role of the publishers, illustrators and graphic designers was minimal, it was a lot of fun for YPG members to laugh together as the celebrities encountered many of the logistical issues involved in completing a project. Ultimately, the men won with the title, “Bullies Never Win.”

Thanks to those who joined us for this publishing crossover into pop culture!
